Note: Cerebral Palsy patients often take trips to comprehensive centres that have a variety of therapies for 2 to 4 week intense sessions of when the parents are on holiday from work. The cost of the entire therapy journey including flights and stay is normally considerably less expensive than getting this many treatments locally and parents of cerebral palsy patients often see an acceleration of improvements for their children after.

Situation
The patient has tetra cerebral palsy due to periventricular leukomalacia. Her symptoms include:
-
- Visual impairment
- Lack of communication with the outside world.
- Dependence on caregivers (her parents) all day.
- Lack of control over her body or head
- Most all of her muscles are severely spastic.
The patient continued rehabilitation therapy four times a week after returning to her home country.
Observed Changes After Therapy Sessions
The parents observed the following changes three months after the therapy sessions were done:
1. The patient raises her right arm now to communicate for words like yes, hello or an affirmation.
2. Improved trunk and head control
3. She can now sit in a therapy chair with some support and is not longer tipping over to the front.
4. The increased head control resulted in improved eating ability but not faster.
The parents were most grateful for the improvement in the patient’s communication ability as the patient now interacts with them. There was no improvement in vision reported.
